Kim Devcich lives in Matua with husband Brent and their three children. A ceramicist and qualified massage therapist, she works from home in a small shed that was previously Brent's "man cave".
I occasionally throw Brent on the table and give him a good hammering. He's the only male that gets
massages, but that was the deal - I get his toy shed, he gets weekly massages.
What used to be in here? Surfboards, mountain bikes, tools, God, everything - it was a real shed. It's a women's cave now. We re-lined it and Brent painted it for me. The little couch came from a place that's closed down now. It was my little 'too me, from me'.
A group of friends come over on Monday nights for a meditation group and afterwards we have a cup of tea and a good old gossip. It's really peaceful. I'll often tell Brent I've got towels to fold or bookwork to do in the evening and sneak out here with a glass of wine and just chill out.
Massages are supposed to be an hour, but I usually get carried away, and they can go on for an hour and a half. It's what I've always wanted to do. I studied at the polytech with Pip Charlton. The course was a lot more intense than I thought it would be.
