After the successful launch of the 2012 season with the Showstoppers concert, award-winning Operatunity are back with their new show, The Era of Swing.
Director Geoffrey Hughes and special guests invite you to take a fresh look at this standout era of music. Swing along with the team as they perform the songs and music of Glen Miller, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, The Rat Pack and more. Geoffrey says: "It will be a challenge to keep still. Bring along your dancing shoes, each venue has room to dance."
Performing alongside Geoffrey are featured artists John Mackay and Mike Booth. John shares his time among the USA, Canada and New Zealand performing, recording, composing and teaching.
Mike returned to New Zealand in 2007 after 18 years in the Netherlands. He has worked alongside international acts such as Dionne Warwick, Tina Turner as well as local acts, Dave Dobbyn and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Together with cast members Debbie Penney, Bonaventure Allan-Moetaua and Bruce French, this is set to be an swinging, dazzling show.
The concert will include hits such as It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing, Stomping at the Savoy, and Saturn Doll.
