Don't miss this spine tingling, beautiful opera in its 15th year at the Rotowhio Marae at Te Puia on Saturday, 21 March.
The 2015 edition of Opera in the Pa will honour the brave men of the famous World War One Maori Pioneer Battalion, showcasing songs from that period, with
particular acknowledgement of Rotorua's 28th Maori Battalion men from the Second World War.
Concert-goers will be given a remembrance poppy upon arrival at the event, to be placed at a memorial that is currently being carved and will eventually be installed at a significant historical location to acknowledge the 2015 ANZAC centenary. Also, for the first time, well-known opera arias will be sung in Te Reo Maori.
Featuring national and international opera stars, musical director Robert Wiremu has been working with Deborah Wai Kapohe (soprano), Elisha Hulton (mezzo), Stephen Diaz (alto), Bonaventure Allan-Moetaua (tenor) and Benson Wilson (baritone).
Come and make a special night of it for dinner with renowned Rotorua Night market food vendors on-site with a range of local and ethnic offerings. Also, for the first time, attendees can take in their own food and enjoy their own picnic.
