My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance

A year after the demise of My Chemical Romance, the band have released this greatest hits collection with the fitting title, May Death Never Stop You.

It's a welcome reintroduction to their distinctive sound - finding emo again, perhaps.

My Chemical Romance were at their pinnacle with the 2006 release of their third of four albums, The Black Parade. Though some of their best songs - Helena and I'm Not Okay (I Promise) - were on the previous album, Black Parade is where they hit their stride, pumping out five singles including arguably their strongest track Famous Last Words. Not all those singles make this collection, though two other album tracks do - Cancer and Mama - the latter, even more annoying than Teenagers, not really earning its place. Also missing is S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W from Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys though the energetic Na Na Na etc, Sing and Planetary (Go!) round out things nicely. There are also three demos to check out and a relatively mellow previously unreleased song, Fake Your Death. Kim Gillespie
