Miranda Cobb and her Fiat Bambino

She is a 1973 Fiat 500. We call her Bambi.

Ever since I was a child I have always loved the old Fiats. I really love the shape of them - in fact, I much prefer them to the new model.

About two years ago, we saw this one for sale. When we bought it, it looked very different - it was bright yellow with flames down the side.

My partner, who is in the jetski business, restored her and painted her this gorgeous shade of blue.

She goes really well but sometimes is tough to start as she still has the old pull start.

I don't use her as my main car for work, but we do love cruising round the Mount with the kids with the sunroof rolled back.

When she is parked, people do stop and chat about her. Or even when we pull up at lights people will roll down the windows and ask about her.

We often get older people chatting to us as they like to tell us stories of their old Fiats.

It's amazing, actually, how many people in New Zealand had one at some time. There was one guy who told us at great length how he took all the front seats out and drove it from the back.
