One of the Bay's established markets is also growing and is opening for the first time over the winter in a new indoor venue of the Mount Sports Centre.
Little Big Markets has mushroomed since its launch two years ago. Organiser Rachelle Duffy says local stall holders have built theirown clientele from it and as a result of community demand, it will be maintained throughout the year.
Rachelle is also launching an online market: www.thelittlebigmarkets.co.nz.
"We have recently been working really hard on our website, which will enable our stall holders to sell online. It won't just be limited to a national arena either - we will also be rolling out a .com.au (Australian) version of the website, which will be managed by a good friend of ours in Melbourne - who is as passionate about it as we are.
"It will enable greater reach for our stall holders and really just reaffirm The Little Big Markets is as big as it is little."
Rachelle said the actual market continued to be event-focused with local musicians and competitions.
