Long awaited Reece Mastin almost here in Tauranga

Reece Mastin is coming to Tauranga and girls are counting down the hours until they can see the teen heart-throb on stage.

Mastin was the winner of X-Factor Australia in 2011 and since then has had a series of hit singles in New Zealand and Australia, including his first single Good Night.

He is touring the country to promote his latest album, Beautiful Nightmare and performs at Baycourt Theatre tonight.

Friends Nicki Fraser and Morgan Bennis, both 15, have been waiting since before Christmas to see Mastin. They both said their favourite Mastin song was She Calls This Love. Nicki said she loved Mastin because his music was different to everyone else's.

"My sister got me into him, she lives in Australia so she couldn't come. I was talking to Morgan about the show and she said she'd like to go so I got her the tickets for her Christmas present. he's actually so different to anyone else, I've never heard anything like him," the teen said.

Nicki and Morgan hoped they would get the chance to meet the singer as there would be a limited number of meet and greet tickets sold on the night.

With tickets right at the front of the stage, Nicki said she and Morgan were hoping they would be able to reach up and touch him.

Morgan said she admired Mastin for his unique look and said she really admired his music, although she was a bit wary of the number of "screaming girls" that would be there on the night.

Baycourt marketing executive Sarah Moorcroft said more than 400 tickets had been sold for the concert. The venue has seating for 576 people.

NZ's Got Talent third place winner Evan Sinton would be opening the show for Mastin.
