When it comes to sustainable fashion, us Kiwis probably don't even realise how well we're doing.
Type "sustainable fashion" into Google and you'll struggle to find many from our shores writing about our efforts to keep it sartorially green.
But out there on the World Wide Web there are thousands of blog
writers keen to let other foreigners know that the best eco-friendly fashion comes from New Zealand.
The Kiwi designer leading the way has to be Miranda Brown, whose company Conscious Cloth thinks about the environment in every part of the manufacturing process.
Brown's materials include local merino, silks, linens and bamboo.
Even at the company's office, it's only recycled paper that's used and the workers go one day a fortnight without using their cars.
From a fashion point of view, though, it's clothing that doesn't look like it should be accessorised with dreadlocks.
At Starfish, too, the clothes aren't what you'd expect from a green design company.
The pieces are whimsical while functional and the company has a Sustainable Business Award to its name.
Untouched World is another brand as synonymous with eco-fashion as it is with style.
Using merino, organic cotton and "eco-possum", the clothing is as good for keeping warm on cold days as it is for the environment.
Chalky Digits has also shouldered the cost of having its clothes made in New Zealand for the sake of keeping the local fashion industry alive and ensuring minimal impact on the environment.
The clothing is distinctly Kiwi, with that durable look, and the people behind the brand have even initiated the restoration of the South Island robin.
There's no shortage of other brands keeping it clean, but with the labels featured on this page you won't be doing wrong by Planet Earth.
