Tauranga may be 950km away from Christchurch but the Western Bay community has banded together and organised a day of activities, games and stalls to raise funds for those affected by last month's earthquake.
From 11am to 4pm on Saturday, Western Bay revellers are invited to attend a fundraising carnival, held
at the Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre and the Mount Action Centre.
The Quake Fun Day Out is a family-focused event and will have activities and games to interest people of all ages.
At the Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre, festival-goers can try their luck at a round of mini golf or bounce around on an inflatable slide. Or get splashed in the water dunk game that tests a person's throwing skills.
Workshops and performances will commence at 12.45pm with a children's gymnastics performance from The Gym Academy. There will be a demonstration from Belisha Belly Dancers, from 2pm to 2.30pm, which will be followed by a zumba workshop for children and adults, presented by Rhythmz Dance Co from 1pm to 1.30pm. Following this is children's dancing from 1.30pm to 2pm.
The event will also feature a samba drumming performance as well as YMCA children's gymnastics with Marie Farrell.
Those with sporting aspirations can take part in a table tennis competition, basketball shooting or a turbo touch game with Touch New Zealand on Memorial Field from 11am to 1pm.
While the little ones get busy, parents and grandparents can also get involved in a body and soul fun fitness demonstration for those over 50. This will be held from 11am to 11.30am with Dianne Mannington.
To take part, people will be asked for a donation to Red Cross. Mini golf, which runs from 11am to 4pm, will charge and make a donation at the end of the day. A sausage sizzle will be available to fill hungry tummies.
At the event there will be $1 raffles for a signed NZ volleyball, Magic netball and Chiefs and Steamers rugby merchandise and spot prizes throughout the day.
Meanwhile down the road at the Mount Action Centre, from 10an to 11am, children can get soccer coaching from Shem Otieno, a former professional footballer. Those interested in basketball can get tips from former Tall Blacks captain Byron Vaetoe at 1pm-2pm.
Inline Skating is hosting a have-a-go day, and there will also be Kiwi-volley, badminton, volleyball and table tennis.
A zumba class will be held at the Mount Action Centre at 12.45pm-1.15pm with Kimberley Lewis. There will also be a bouncy castle for children to enjoy.
If you would like to include your activity on the day and donate all funds raised from your activity to Red Cross, phone Robyn on 027 467 7051.
