Footnote Dance Company celebrates its 30th birthday with old favourites and a new work at the Tauranga Arts Festival.
For three decades, the company has delighted and inspired Kiwis with contemporary dances, and 30 Forward is an acknowledgement of the contributions of New Zealand choreographers throughout its history.
Founding director
Deirdre Tarrant chose a selection of highlights from the past and the work includes a new commission from renowned choreographer Malia Johnston.
The new piece draws on the company's physical history to suggest where the next steps may take them and investigates the Footnote choreographic, visual and musical archives.
"Since 1985, Footnote New Zealand Dance has been nurturing talent and leading the charge for the arts and creative industry. Acknowledging this milestone gives us a chance to look back with pride and, more importantly, to look forward with anticipation," said Richard Aindow, general manager.
