Anne Farquhar and about a hundred surprised shoppers were treated to an impromptu flash mob performance in Tauranga's Red Square yesterday afternoon.
About two dozen youth performers from Tauranga Musical Theatre sand and danced to the hit song "I'm walking on sunshine" to promote their latest production Off the Wall.
Mrs Farquhar watched in awe as her granddaughter Rebekah Martin sang and danced in the street.
Off the Wall creator Matthew Roderick said the flash mob was a good way to show Tauranga the enthusiasm of the young performers and generate awareness about their show.
After the three minute performance, those involved in the flash mob disappeared into the watching crowd.
