Fancy some Two + Two down Katikati way

Two + Two is the name of Katikati Theatre's next dinner theatre - two one act plays plus a two course meal.

Rehearsals are under way for the dinner theatre, which features as a double bill two one act plays, Slim Chance by Peter Gordon and Meat and Two Veg by Paul Beard. Both plays are comedies.

Slim Chance, directed by Diana More, introduces us to eight women who are members of a slimming club.

We learn about their lives as well as the challenges they have in their quest to lose weight.

Jean, branch organiser of the slimming club, is frustrated by the late arrival of her members. Even when the motley collection of women has all arrived, it is clear that the slimming aspect of their weekly meetings is the last thing on their minds.

The arrival of a new member, together with Jean's bad news from the club's head office, forces them all to re-evaluate their reasons for trying to slim. Their resolve hardly strengthened, they are forced to dream up a scheme that will fulfil everyone's wishes whilst leaving honour intact.

Meat and Two Veg is a light-hearted comedy directed by Keith Hatcher.

Margaret and Arthur, a retired couple, invite their neighbour over for dinner.

Albert's wife, Enid, has gone missing very suddenly two months ago.

Is there something sinister? Arthur, aware that Albert has an eye for Margaret, suggests their neighbour's smelly bonfires could indicate that Albert has something to hide.

Six performances, again at Katikati's historic restaurant Forta Leza, will be over two weeks, Tuesday to Thursday, June 19-21 and Tuesday to Thursday, June 26-28.

Audience seated at 6pm.

Tickets are $40 for the meal and performance.

This will make a great night's entertainment, so book early to avoid disappointment.
