"Individually they are very accomplished opera singers, and together they perform a variety of music including contemporary, opera and barbershop, so it's going to be very popular with many audiences," she says.
The Waipuna Hospice has a funding shortfall of $2.5 million and she says this formidable challenge means fundraising concerts are a necessity for the organisation.
Legacy Trust is sponsoring the event by bringing the performers to the city. "Their generosity means we can put on an amazing concert and that every single dollar raised goes back to the Waipuna Hospice and is spent on our patients' care," Trish says.
The group consists of Samoan baritones, Joel Amosa and Benson Wilson and Tongan tenors Kalauni Pouvalu and Taunoa (Noah) Filimoehala all graduates of university music courses.
Their infectious humour, incredible vocal talent and obvious love of music infuses their concerts, and they are adept at many vocal styles from classics such as You Raise Me Up, to barbershop, opera and Polynesian medleys of tunes such as the Old Rugged Cross.
In addition to performing together as Operanesia, the concert will feature solo pieces from the each of the singers.
