It was a hoot last time, so what better excuse for the guys behind an outdoor summer comedy gig to return to Tauranga?
Irish comedian Ed Byrne is joining last year's line-up of Ben Hurley, Wilson Dixon with host Simon McKinney for The Outdoor Comedy Store next month.
When theshow debuted in Tauranga's Wharepai Domain in January it went down a treat with a 600-strong crowd. This time, things have expanded to cater for even more people. As at the first show, food and refreshments will be available and audiences can take fold-away chairs or a blanket to sit on to enjoy the show.
Bay audiences might recognise Byrne after his recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show. Byrne has just completed a month-long, sell-out tour at the Edinburgh Festival. He is on the second leg of a 118-date tour throughout the United Kingdom to packed crowds and rave reviews.
Meanwhile, home-grown lads Hurley and Dixon are already acquainted with Tauranga audiences with the inaugural Outdoor Comedy gig this year.
Hurley is a regular on the television show 7 Days while Dixon's American cowboy routine has grown a strong fan base from his summer tours.
Host McKinney is best known for his impersonations and impressions, having appeared on several television shows and comedy galas.
The Outdoor Comedy Store will be at Wharepai Domain on January 12, with gates opening at 6.30pm and the show starting at 8pm. Tickets are available from Ticket Master or at the Bayfair Information Kiosk for $55 each. More information at www.outdoorcomedystore.co.nz
