Award Winning board game designer Martin Wallace is coming to town.
Just a month after arriving in the country from England and setting down roots in the Coromandel, Mr Wallace will be attending the Board Games By The Bay community board gaming event in Otumoetai this weekend.
A popular figurein the board gaming community, Martin Wallace has designed highly acclaimed modern titles such as Brass, Steam, and Discworld: Ankh-Morpork.
Angela Taylor, one of the founders of Board Games By The Bay, says having Mr Wallace attend the Tauranga board gaming event is a boost for the Kiwi gaming community.
"We're really excited that he's coming," she said. "He's highly respected and designs games for a living, so his decision to move to New Zealand is great news."
Mrs Taylor, who is also a director of online board game retailer SeriouslyBoard.co.nz, says Board Games By The Bay offers people the opportunity to experience modern board games.
"We think board games are a great way to spend family time or to pick up a new hobby. We're inviting anyone of any age and any ability to come down and see what it's all about, and they might even walk away with a board game as a prize, too."
Board Games By The Bay will be at the Tauranga Bridge Club, 252 Ngatai Road, Otumoetai, Tauranga, March 15-16. The venue will be open 10am-10pm Saturday and 10am-6pm Sunday.
