IF you have nothing planned for your children during the first week of the school holidays, catch the Tauranga Festival of Performing Arts next week.
More than 600 competitors from all over the North Island are performing in eight art forms - singing, speech, piano, instrumental, ballet, tap, modern danceand highland national dance. Avoid the winter weather in favour of indoor entertainment from the next generation of performers.
The competitors' ages ranges from preschool to university, and the level of talent continues to grow, according to organisers.
Admission is a gold coin donation (per person, per session), granting access to performances in both Baycourt's Addison Theatre (all dance sections) and the Baycourt Exhibition Hall (Pianoforte, Instrumental, Singing, Speech and Drama).
Each art form is running a major award scholarship class featuring senior competitors performing different styles unique to their chosen art form.
The festival ends with the concert on Sunday, July 17 at 2pm featuring the most talented and entertaining performances. Tickets are from the Baycourt Box Office.
