The Bay of Plenty's newest supermarket, Pak'n Save, will open on September 14 in Papamoa.
Owner-operator Rob McGregor says he can't wait to join the Papamoa community. At the opening, he will make a $20,000 donation to the Papamoa Surf Life Saving Club in recognition of its contribution to the safety
and local spirit of the Papamoa community.
"I am committed to supporting the local community. This donation is one example of the benefits the store will bring. For example we have also provided 170 new jobs for locals.
"I will also be giving away three Suzuki Swifts to shoppers between now and Christmas through different monthly promotions," he says.
Rob is a true blue grocer with a family background in the supermarket industry. His father owned and operated Te Kuiti New World where Rob worked after school and during school holidays from the age of 10.
"While doing this, I started to take on a more managerial role and eventually managed Te Kuiti store when my father retired. My brother, Peter, joined the business and after a few years I decided to branch out on my own by purchasing Hillcrest New World in Hamilton in 1995," he says. "I am pleased to be in the Bay of Plenty with my family, and being part of this local community."
