A luxury lodge tucked away in the Papamoa hills is on the market.
The exclusive Ridge Country Retreat has been put up for sale by tender by Bayleys and is expected to fetch plenty of interest.
The retreat is one of the few luxury style resorts in the Tauranga area. It is
set within 13.83 hectares of native bush in the Papamoa Ranges, with views looking out to the Pacific Ocean.
Bayleys' Jeremy Pryor said the sale would provide an opportunity for a new owner to put their individual stamp on the business.
Rooms at the retreat range from $250-$800 a night, excluding discount for locals.
The 750sq m main complex features five luxury double ensuite bedrooms and an additional six studio villas can sleep 22 people.
The retreat also features a helipad, geothermal lap pool with panoramic views across the hills, a spa pool, and a massage and therapy suite. Each villa features its own private geothermal outdoor bath.
Co-owner Joanne O'Keeffe said she and partner Penny Oxnam, in their 50s and 60s, decided "it was time" to put the business on the market.
"It's about spending more time with friends and family.
"But it's got to go to the right person.
"We have had the land for 20 years and built it from nothing.
"We have done the hard work and it's time for someone to take it to that third and final stage."
The retreat already has resource consent to build a four-bedroom house on the property.
While popular for business conferences and weddings, many celebrities from New Zealand and abroad have stayed.
"It's a very private place for people to simply come away and escape the world," she said.
It is also exclusive. Security gates mean anyone visiting will need an appointment to do so.
The sale is not expected to interfere with conferences and weddings already booked at the venue, Ms O'Keeffe said.
Tenders close on June 2.
