A South Korea appeals court has sentenced the youngest son of former President Kim Dae Jung to a 1 1/2-year suspended jail term for receiving bribes from businessmen.
Kim Hong Gul, 39, was also fined 160 million won ($230,000).
He was given a two-year suspended jail term after a lower court verdict in November.
He was convicted of taking about $4.82 million in bribes in an influence-peddling scandal. The court ruling denounced him for "infuriating the people" with his unethical behaviour, but said it gave a lenient punishment because of evidence that he was abused by friends in the scandal.
