Motorist reunited with his car twenty years after forgetting where he'd parked it

A German man has found his car - 20 years after forgetting where he parked it.

Back in 1997, when Helmut Kohl was chancellor and Titanic was in cinemas, a forgetful fellow left his car in Frankfurt.

But when he tried to find it again, he failed - telling the police it had been stolen, the Daily Mail reports.

Twenty years later, however, and the old motor was found right where he'd left it, the Augsberger Allgemein reported.

Builders were prevented from demolishing a garage because of the car, so police tracked down the owner - now 76 - and re-united him with his long-lost vehicle.

But since it no longer worked - and as he was evidently not the sentimental sort - he said he didn't want it anymore.

Frankfurt authorities said: "The car can no longer be driven and will be sent to the scrap heap".

Earlier this year, a man from Scotland who left his BMW in a car park in Manchester for six months was reunited with his vehicle.

He'd parked it outside the Etihad Stadium for a Stone Roses gig.

It is believed the man searched for the car for days but to no avail - until police found it exactly where he'd left it half a year later.

He was said to have racked up parking fines of nearly $10,000.
