A Kenyan mother has named her twin babies Barack and Mitt after giving birth on the day of the US Election.

Millicent Owuor, 20, gave birth yesterday close to the village of Kogelo where President Obama's father was born.

As she was preparing to deliver her babies, the village was celebrating Obama's reelection, spurring her to name them after Obama and his unsuccessful Republican challenger.

A Reuters photo shows Owuor holding Barack, who is wrapped in white, and Mitt, who is wrapped in the traditional blue of the US Democrat Party.

Several other new mothers around Kogelo also named their newborns after Obama, but Owuor was the only one to call her baby Mitt.
