Felt enthusiasts from around Whanganui came to create hats, mittens and cushions on Monday.

The workshop was one of three run by Karen Workman.

"We had five people here today. At the end of the day they didn't want to leave," says Karen.

"It's great to see so much interest, I love passing on the skills to other people." The workshop was such a success the group has decided to start a felting group to meet every month.

Felting is one of the oldest forms of fibre craft, but has seen in decline in modern times.

"Felt is great, because you can create all sorts of shapes with it. We were making felt fish today." "You're only limited by your imagination."

The felting group will meet on the second of each month at 25A Drews Ave, contact 06 3484229.
