When his friends took his keys off him, Raniera Junior Manuel began smashing cars in the street.
Manuel had been drinking on August 2 and was on Moana St in Wanganui East, police prosecutor Sergeant Stephen Butler said in the Whanganui District Court on Tuesday.
Manuel was angry because his friends took his keys away, and "started yelling he was going to damage cars", Mr Butler said.
He went to a car parked in the street and punched its window and rear passenger door. Manuel then walked across the road and smashed a side mirror on another car.
When police arrived, Manuel refused to get into the police car, Mr Butler said.
