A man who tried to "defuse" tensions between his mother and her neighbours learned his defusing skills were a little rusty after police turned up to find him shirtless in the middle of the street, yelling abuse at the neighbours.
Jamie Michael Wernham went to the neighbours' house on Pitt St on January 11 to talk to the neighbours about issues they were having with his mother, police prosecutor Sergeant Rachel Willemsen told Whanganui District Court on Tuesday.
Wernham began yelling abuse at them. When police arrived he was standing in the middle of the street with his shirt removed, she said.
He began walking back across the road towards the neighbours with his arms raised.
When spoken to by police he said he'd gone around to their house to try and "defuse the situation", but it "got out of hand".
