YOU BRING the bangers and Speirs Foods will provide the mash.
The Marton-based company has just launched a mashed potato and gravy product into the Countdown supermarket chain and general manager Chris Newton says it's already proving popular.
Mr Newton said the idea was floated in March this year and nine months later 500gm pottles of the mix are on the shelves across the country, selling for $5 each.
It is the only product of its kind in New Zealand supermarkets that can be sold fresh or heated.
In stores, the product is being sold both heated in association with hot chickens and cold for heating at home. Mr Newton said it signalled a marketing change within those supermarkets.
