The racing industry has raised $130,000 so far to help paralysed jockey Thomas Russell.
The 31-year-old from Wanganui was hurt doing track work in Bulls on June 19. He is recovering in Burwood Hospital, Christchurch.
Fellow jockey Darryl Bradley has spearheaded the fundraising and said to date $130,000 has been raised by the racing industry and wider community and more is expected.
He is not sure when fundraising will be complete and the money presented to Mr Russell, but said there were a couple of more events to go.
Mr Bradley said when he last visited Mr Russell in Burwood he "was the same Thomas as before the accident.
