The fate of the Wanganui man caught up in a Rebels gang sting in September will not be known until next year.
South African born-Johannes Jochemus Esterhuizen, 24, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to supply the class B drug ecstasy in a Central Districts police sweep on Rebels gang members, associates and organised crime on September 1.
He was among 22 people arrested.
Twenty days later, Esterhuizen became a New Zealand citizen in a Wanganui citizenship ceremony.
Department of Internal Affairs said they were aware of the concerns around granting citizenship to Mr Esterhuizen but could not comment further because his case was before the courts.
