From yesterday, cigarettes and tobacco can no longer be on display in the shops.
They need to be hidden behind a plain display case so they're not visible to shoppers and impressionable young minds who might otherwise be tempted.
Most of the retailers we spoke to about the change were sceptical about whether it would reduce tobacco sales, saying smokers came into their shop knowing exactly what they were looking for anyway.
As one said: "Everyone knows we still sell smokes."
The argument from public health advocates was that removing cigarettes from display alongside other everyday products reinforces that cigarettes are deadly, and shouldn't be treated the same as pies and lollies.
