The same Masterton intersection has claimed three crashes in three weeks, prompting a warning to Christmas motorists to keep vigilant.
An off duty police officer's Alfa Romeo was T-boned by a Golf which travelled through the stop sign on the corner of Russell and Queen Sts about 4.15pm yesterday.
Both woman drivers were unhurt in the accident.
Constable Dana Johanson said the Alfa Romeo was heading east on Russell St when the driver of the Golf "failed" to stop at the compulsory stop sign on Queen St as she headed north, slamming into the driver's side of the other car, spinning it 360 degrees.
"It was facing in the opposite direction."
There were more motorists on the roads during the festive season and it was timely to remind them to not be distracted and adhere to the road rules.
It was the third accident she had attended at that intersection so far this month, Ms Johanson said. It is controlled by stop signs.
"If it's a stop sign don't slow down and roll on through. Don't treat it as a give way sign. It's a stop sign for a reason. It's a compulsory stop sign ... take extra care."
