Co-trainer Brett McDonald did no dancing on tabletops last night after Our Unicorn's shock win in yesterday's Auckland Cup.
He was lying on a pillow.
On race eve McDonald have to have 18 stitches in a testicle after a stable member slipped and fell on the wet ground at his Cambridge property.
"When the horse went down, Brett put one leg on the ground and just as he did it the horse got up underneath him and - crunch," said Linda Jones, wife of McDonald's training partner Alan Jones.
But the rest of the team celebrated in Auckland last night with Our Unicorn's co-owner, former Hong Kong resident David Yam.
Yam races Our Unicorn with his brother Alan, who was at Sha Tin races in Hong Kong yesterday and did not learn of the win until his Auckland-based brother called him late last night.
Alan Jones last won the Auckland Cup in 1982 with Chimbu, ridden by the late Phillip Alderson.
