My holiday: Ben Boyce

Ben Boyce in New York.

What was your greatest holiday?

I went on a Disney Cruise with family in the US to the Caribbean. It was bloody amazing set up ... for a Mickey Mouse operation.

And the worst?

We were in Las Vegas for filming and decided to play the dice game "craps" at a casino. Our young radio producer threw the dice too hard and it went smack into the face of a massive professional footballer.

If we bump into you on holiday, what are you most likely to be doing?

Probably at a theme park. I actually just came back from a really fun trip with the family to the Gold Coast. There were loads of other New Zealanders there, so the Aussies would be confused by why these Kiwis wanted to have photos with some random dude!

How about a dream holiday internationally?

I'd love to see the big pyramids in Egypt and the big salmon in Rakaia.

What's the dumbest thing you've ever done while travelling?

I got busted watching an episode of my own TV show on an Air New Zealand flight.

Complete this sentence: I can't travel without ...

I actually have a wine cork with a coin in it, that my parents carried with them on their OE as their good luck charm, and they gave it to me. I guess their luck ran out when I was born.

What's the best travel tip you've ever been given?

Mum used to say, if you have a chance to go to the bathroom, then go as there may not be one later on.

What's the most memorable meal you've had while travelling?

When I was backpacking with my wife through France, we got a bottle of French wine, bread and cheese and ate it on the beach.

What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?

My mate bought me a Nike singlet with a Reebok tag inside from Thailand. Pretty sure it was legit.

Favourite airport to land at?

Anywhere, as you're going on holiday.

Ben Boyce appears on Jono and Ben, Fridays at 7.30pm on TV3.
