Eugenie Bouchard is a woman of her word — and John Goehrke remains one of the luckiest men to ever walk the face of the earth.
We've come to those conclusions based on the tennis superstar's latest social media post in which she snapped a photo of the two relaxing on a couch together. #Couplegoals.
You might remember Goehrke as the guy who scored a date with Bouchard after winning a bet during this year's NFL Super Bowl in February.
The Atlanta Falcons were up by 25 points late against the New England Patriots and Bouchard was ready to call it.
But Goehrke — then just a random sports fan with a Twitter account — went for the Hail Mary of all Hail Marys by asking the Canadian if she'd go out with him should New England miraculously finish on top.
Long story short, quarterback Tom Brady did what only Tom Brady can and the Pats won 34-28. And, much like Batman, Goehrke became the hero we needed but probably didn't deserve.
Fast forward a couple of weeks and the pair were sitting courtside at an NBA game in New York to see the Brooklyn Nets play the Milwaukee Bucks.
The smooth operator gave Bouchard a pair of Tiffany earrings (the next best option given he can't really gift her a grand slam title) and when asked by TMZ if there would be a second date she replied: "For sure."
Well, it may have taken all the way until December but Goehrke has finally worked his way back into the most important part of many athletes' lives these days — their social channels.
Forget the earrings, where's the engagement ring, John?
Potential for a future Hollywood production of this love story for the ages aside (sorry Shakespeare), the odds are still stacked against Goehrke.
Earlier this year Bouchard indicated she was going out with NHL star Jordan Carron.
But the world loves an underdog, so we're rooting for Goehrke in this one.
Judging from Bouchard's latest post the two enjoyed a quieter time of it than their first date, snippets of which the 23-year-old uploaded online.
"He's a normal fan," Bouchard said. "I didn't [expect him to be normal]. It's complete luck, I'm so lucky.
"We had a camera with us from the NBA the whole time, so maybe it wasn't the most normal date ... but he was very laid back about it. It was cool to meet him."
