New Zealand were hoping to seal victory in their Davis Cup doubles tie against Sri Lanka in Colombo overnight (NZT) but the host team had other ideas.
Sri Lanka's number one and two Harshana Godamanna and Rajeev Rajapakse defeated New Zealand number one Dan King-Turner and Cup debutant Marcus Daniell in three sets.
The first set went to a tiebreak with Godamanna and Rajapakse taking it 7-5. They then took the next two sets and match 6-4 6-3.
New Zealand now go into the reverse singles leading 2-1 with King-Turner and Rubin Statham hoping their can continue their winning performances from day one.
King-Turner takes on Godamanna while Statham plays Rajapakse.
Day One: Rubin Statham (NZL) beat Harshana Godamanna (SRI) 6-3 3-6 6-4 3-6 6-4; Dan King-Turner (NZL) beat Rajeev Rajapakse (SRI) 6-2 3-6 6-1 6-2.
Day Two: Harshana Godamanna and Rajeev Rajapakse (SRI) beat Dan King-Turner and Marcus Daniell (NZL) 7-6(5) 6-4 6-3.
