Much like All Black fans, having gone 24 years without World Cup success, rugby gamers have had a drought since the cult classic Jonah Lomu Rugby was released on PSOne in 1997.
Many have tried and failed to follow Lomu's massive footsteps, with Rugby World Cup 2011, the latest attempt from HB Studios (creators of Rugby 2008), once again falling short.
The simple, fast-paced gameplay which made Lomu a number one seller 14 years ago is again lacking.
The game includes all 20 countries competing in New Zealand in the coming weeks, but doesn't contain the official squads for the All Blacks or Australia, instead using generic names for the two favoured teams heading into the tournament. So instead of Carter it's Harper who will lead you to World Cup glory.
Much like most World Cup experiences are for Irish fans - Rugby World Cup 2011 is too brief. Features include just a tournament mode, overseas tours and a bizarre place-kicking contest which gets old quickly.
