The owner of a black and tan Rottweiler which attacked a miniature Fox Terrier in June this year was ordered to pay reparation of $2625.90 on Tuesday, July 28.
Judge Roberts noted the owner, Anita Joy Powell, had surrendered the dog for destruction and had offered an apology. The defendant did not appear in court on the charges of failing to control a dog and of owning a dog that attacks stock and failing to notify of change of address but submitted a guilty plea via letter.
In Hawera District Court on Tuesday, Judge Roberts ordered that the cost of the vet bill for the miniature Fox Terrier be paid by Powell, at $20 a week to begin immediately.
He also ordered the defendant pay $130 court costs and $100 fines on each separate charge.
