Jock Hume, the Singing Cowboy, is on his way to Stratford and says he is looking forward to sharing his music with people in the town.
Jock is a familiar face as he has performed in Stratford many times over his singing career that spans four decades.
"I love coming down to Stratford" says Hume, adding that he is "delighted" that he will have the opportunity to sing at both the Maryann and Marire rest homes next Wednesday.
The country and western musician was recognised for his talent in 2005, when he received an "Unsung Hero" certificate from the Variety Artists Club of New Zealand.
Hume's Singing Cowboy alter ego is perhaps almost as well known as other New Zealand icons such as Buzzy Bee or Lemon and Paeroa.
With his enthusiasm matching his talent, the charming musician is always popular with his audiences.
"I love performing at schools, getting the kids to join in with me," he says, adding that he is happy to take more bookings for his time in Stratford if any schools or groups would like the opportunity to have him visit.
While in Stratford, Hume is also hoping to entertain shoppers by busking on Broadway at Tuesday lunchtime, and will be performing at the Taranaki Country Music Club in Ngaere on Tuesday evening.
To contact Hume, who will be staying at the New Commercial Hotel in Stratford from Monday, September 2 until Thursday, September 5, call him before then on 09 620 5150.
