Taranaki's "Best Teacher", principal Richard Anderson, said farewell to his staff and students at Ngaere School on Friday afternoon, as he left to start a new job at Kaimata School.
Richard reinforced that "change is good" throughout the emotional farewell assembly. Each classroom of students sang "Mr A", a song to show their admiration for their beloved principal.
The school presented Richard with a new iPad containing photos and memories of his time at the school to be sure he does not forget them.
The farewell address from Richard was full of memories and laughter as he reminisced about his time at Ngaere School, "I am the happiest person I know," he said. He said he was going to miss his students as well as the strong base of parental support.
"Ngaere School is so successful because of the 'we', you have been such good parents that we are simply adding value to the fabulous start the students have already had."
