Punter loses $100,000 on All Black loss

An All Black punter will be counting the cost of the loss to Ireland as hard as any of the men in black after placing a $100,000 bet on the team to remain undefeated in 2016.

But one lucky person who bet $10,500 on Ireland to win 35 minutes into the match doubled their money with the odds at $2.

With 30 minutes to go, two other people put $10,000 on Ireland at $1.27 and $1.25 respectively.

The TAB said 65 per cent of turnover was on New Zealand and 35 per cent, or 1700 bets, on Ireland.

A TAB spokesman confirmed the big loss, saying the punter put $100,000 on the All Blacks the week before the final Bledisloe Cup match Australia at Eden Park.

The odds of $1.50 offered the chance to make $50,000 with wins against Ireland (twice), Italy and France.

Going into today's test in Chicago, the Irish were paying $9 for the win and the Blacks $1.04.

By halftime the odds had shortened.

How the odds changed:

Before the match - New Zealand $1.04, Ireland $9

After 20 minutes(score 18-5) - New Zealand $1.22, Ireland $3.80

Half time(score 25-8) - New Zealand $2, Ireland $1.70

After 50 minutes(score 30-8) - New Zealand $3.50, Ireland $1.25

After 65 minutes(score 33-29) - New Zealand $1.42, Ireland $2.60

After 70 minutes(score 33-29) - New Zealand $1.85, Ireland $1.85
