The prospect of a roof on Wellington's Westpac Stadium is now all but off the table, after it was found to be "eye-wateringly" expensive.
A report has found building the roof would cost up to $385 million.
Stadium chairman John Shewan said that's nowhere near feasible.
"Even if we cut these numbers in half, commercially that would be very difficult to justify."
Shewan said other proposals, including retractable seating and sectioning parts of the stadium, are also too expensive.
