Tsonga splits with coach

PARIS (AP) Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has parted ways with Australian coach Roger Rasheed after less than one year.

The eighth-ranked Tsonga is currently recovering from a knee injury that forced him to drop out of his second-round match at Wimbledon.

In a statement released to French media, the former Australian Open finalist praised Rasheed's work but said that "the language barrier and the difficulties linked to our geographic locations are restraining our collaboration."

Tsonga missed the U.S. Open, but hopes to be ready for the Moselle Open next month.

He said he is currently assessing "several options" before deciding on a replacement for Rasheed, who previously worked with Lleyton Hewitt and Gael Monfils.
