New Zealanders are set to give a warm welcome to the golden girl of Olympic shot put, Valerie Adams, when she formally receives her winner's medal in Auckland this evening.
Having been denied the right to a full ceremony and the broadcast of the New Zealand national anthem during the London Olympics, Adams has waited over a month to be united with her rightful prize.
2500 people will be present at The Cloud in Auckland, and the event will be screened at Frank Kitts Park in Wellington, and on television. Using Scribblelive, nzherald.co.nz will blog live from The Cloud.
