The Crusaders have made only one change to their team for Super Rugby's first semifinal against the Chiefs in Hamilton on Friday.

Ben Franks replaces brother Owen at tighthead prop as the Crusaders shuffle their front row options following their 28-13 qualifier victory over the Bulls in Christchurch.

No8 Kieran Read made himself unavailable earlier in the week due to his rib injury, with skipper Richie McCaw again at No8 and Matt Todd at openside flanker.

The Crusaders have had a loss and a win to the Chiefs in the regular season this year. The winner of this game will progress to the final, against either the Stormers or the Sharks.
