Cricket sponsor Victoria Bitter has promised to buy a beer for every Australian adult if the home team can beat England in the upcoming Ashes series.
If the Aussies take back the Ashes, vouchers for Victoria Bitter will be printed in five national newspapers following the final test on January 8.
At current retail prices the "Shout the Nation" promotion would cost NZ$25m if all of the 13 million adult Australians redeemed their free drink.
However, commentators say VB has timed the promotion well, as this is the first series where England appear to have a strong chance of winning.
The Ashes series is due to take place around Australia over the next two months.
