The Warehouse has pulled a range of bed linen off the shelves after realising the design was very similar to an internationally renowned designer's work. Orla Kiely's signature Stem Print featured on The Warehouse's Republic Revolution "Glendhu Bay" duvet set last week. While manufactured in Asia, the duvet was designed
locally by TV makeover designers Peter Reid and Graham Dickie. Warehouse spokeswoman Andrea Kenworthy, who has compared both products, says customers would see the similarities so they were removed from sale. In a statement, Reid and Dickie say: "The sample we brought back to New Zealand was Orla Kiely's multi-coloured small stem and leaf print. We were unaware she had designed a larger stem and leaf print, or that other colours existed, until last week." (Source: SpareRoom.co.nz)

A reader writes: "After some restless nights I went to my late-night pharmacy in Ponsonby for some ... er, worm tablets. A failed search required a whisper to the young shop assistant. I was stunned with her reply that could be heard in every corner of the bedroom-sized store. 'Why do you think you need worm tablets?' I froze - my life had turned into a Seinfeld episode. Just as loudly, she followed with, 'Do you have an itchy bum or something?' I feel sorry for people with more personal problems that have been broadcast like this."

World football bosses have decided that Africa's indigenous grass is not bright enough for TV audiences. In what critics are saying is a blow to South African pride in hosting next year's World Cup, stadiums used for top matches have been told to get rid of their hardy African kikuyu grass pitches, because it is not uniformly dark green, and switch instead to brighter and softer European ryegrass. A disgruntled groom writes: "My wife and I also spent our wedding night at SkyCity earlier this year. We arrived at midnight, too, and were asked for a credit card. We didn't have one. We were told we would have to hand over a $500 bond. We refused and had to sit in reception for 25 minutes, in our wedding duds, while someone removed the mini bar and disconnected the phone in our room! When we finally reached the room there was no sign of the gift package of a bottle of bubbly, a "chocolate strawberry indulgence tower" and a box of bath-bombs and oils, paid for by one of our friends as a gift. With no phone, I had to trudge back down to reception. Half an hour later, a bottle of bubbly and a plate of strawberries with a dish of dipping chocolate arrived."
