Councillors are set to get a guided tour of work on the library and children's health hub.
The controversial project is ahead of schedule and on budget with Rotorua district councillors getting an update on the project during a meeting of the Rotorua Lakes Council's Operations and Monitoring Committee tomorrow.
Once the meeting is finished, councillors will be shown through the site by contractors and council staff managing the project.
In November last year, the Rotorua Daily Post reported work to upgrade and repair the Rotorua District Library, that would also include a children's health hub, was well ahead of schedule and should be finished by late October.
Work on the $12.8 million facility, a collaboration between the council and the Lakes District Health Board, began in October after the contract was given to Fletcher Construction.
The health board has committed almost $4 million toward its development and, when complete, it will set up a children's health facility in the building and will pay rent to the council.
Next door to the library, the old Community House building was completely demolished to will make way for an extension of Jean Batten Park.
Also on the agenda for tomorrow's meeting is an update on council finances for the nine months ending March 31, the council's non-financial performance for the same time period and an operational report for March and April.
As previously reported, the council's finances have taken a hit with revenue from the Rotorua Museum dropping by $865,000 since it was closed due to earthquake damage in November last year.
"This is forecast to worsen to a $1.3 million shortfall by June 30, 2017," an agenda report stated.
The report stated other revenue streams, including consenting, parking meters and regulatory services were ahead of budget, but "overall, council has ended the nine month period $968,000 over budget mainly due to the museum closure".
Councillors will also be updated on damage caused around the district after heavy rain events on April 4 and 5, with some sites identified as requiring specific stabilisation works. The report stated these sites were still being assessed.
The meeting starts at 9.30am, is open to the public, and will be held in the council chamber.
