Organisers of the eighth annual Hamurana Playcentre Spring Fair and Grand Auction are expecting a record turnout.
Hamurana Playcentre president Sharon Caulfield said the Sunday fundraiser had steadily increased in popularity because it had something to entertain the whole family.
"We have a mini ferris wheel and rides on Sparky the fire engine, which will be a lot of fun for the kids. The volunteer fire brigade comes along every year ... and we have over 50 stall holders from the Lake Front.
"We have had a huge response this year for people to come because it's getting so popular," she said.
Attendees will also be able to try their hand at landing a golf ball in a boat on the lake to win prizes. Local "celebrities" like MP Todd McClay and ex-All Black Hika Reid will attempt the feat at 11am on the day.
The community gets behind the playcentre's efforts, Mrs Caulfield said.
"Businesses donate year after year. Over 50 businesses have donated and we auction 50 items of goods and services, including vouchers from various cafes, restaurants and tourists attractions, which makes a great Christmas present."
Proceeds from the fair will go towards the general upkeep and resources necessary to keep the playcentre running.
