The dreams of two young men from Rotorua and Whakatane have been realised, with Jordi Webber and Zac Taylor both winning a place in New Zealand's answer to One Direction.
The pair made it through an intense week in a "boy band boot camp" in Auckland and were told they had made the cut yesterday morning.
The pair join four other talented young Kiwis in the line-up of the The Edge Boy Band with KFC Crushers.
Webber, 18, who was head boy at Rotorua Boys' High School last year, said he felt as if he was floating after making the final cut.
"It's really good, I'm going to have to pull out of school now but it's an awesome opportunity."
Webber, who is studying acting at Unitec in Auckland, said he would put his acting classes on hold.
Taylor, also 18, was one of 16 people from around the world who performed in Orlando, in the United States, as part of the 2012 Voice of McDonald's competition.
He said he was over the moon with the result.
"My dream has come true ... I've always wanted to be a singer and it's finally happened."
Taylor said he couldn't wait to get into the serious business of producing the band's first single and nationwide tour.
The pair get to work right away with the band beginning the recording of their first single today.
The band receives a contract with Illegal Musik, a boy band prize pack including clothing, a makeover and personal training, a $10,000 cash bonus if they produce a No 1 single, a nationwide tour and a music video.
The Edge marketing manager Emily Hancox previously told The Daily Post that Jordi could not only sing, but had a good look, too.
