An forestry worker had to have four fingers amputated after his hand got trapped between a log and wire.
The Hamilton-based Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance was called to Opotiki to airlift the man to Waikato Hospital after the incident.
The 30-year-old man had been loading cut logs when his right hand became trapped between a log and a wire securing the logs.
Four of the mans fingers were amputated as a result.
