So you've opened all the presents, played with all your new toys and eaten all the turkey. What's next? Here's five things to do in Rotorua this Christmas Day.
- Get walking. Walk off the excesses of the day in the Redwoods, go for a stroll around a lake, or try the Jubilee track up Mt Ngongotaha. See www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/tracks-and-walks/bay-of-plenty/rotorua-lakes/.
-Get sporty. Nothing beats a family game of backyard cricket, petanque or touch rugby.
-Blob in front of the TV. The Queen's Christmas message screens at 6.50pm while there are kid-friendly movies on all afternoon including classics The Goonies and The Parent Trap. If you're still awake as it approaches 9pm, try The Blind Side or Les Miserables.
-Take time to reflect and give thanks for what you have. Whether it be in your own space or at one of the Christmas Day church services in the city.
-Be a tourist in your own backyard. Why not treat visitors (and yourself) to a taste of Rotorua? Most tourist activities are open on Christmas Day.
