A record 35 drivers were caught allegedly over the legal alcohol limit in a Tauranga booze blitz.
The Traffic Alcohol Group (Tag), a specialised police team, arrested 27 drivers over a three-day period ending early on Sunday morning - a record since the group was formed 18 months ago.
Tauranga police stopped a further eight drivers, who were charged with driving with excess breath- or blood-alcohol levels.
